Espoo is seeking a buyer for the historic Bemböle skola, located in Järvenperä along the King’s Road. The school, designed by architect Johan Sigfrid Sirén and completed in 1923, is protected due to its cultural-historical value. The building ceased school activities in 2022 and now awaits renovation for business, service, or office use.
A local detailed plan amendment will allow new construction in the northern part of the 9,200 square metre property, with a maximum of 1,000 square metres of gross floor area. The city emphasizes the importance of renovation plans that respect the building's heritage.
The two-stage application process is open until 7 September 2026. Applicants can propose projects individually or as part of a consortium. The City Board Business and Competitiveness Subcommittee will make the final decision. Successful applicants may later purchase the plot after completing the renovation and any new construction.
