Westend Station Area Development Proposal Under Consideration

On October 5, the Business and Competitiveness Subcommittee of the City Board of Espoo will evaluate a proposal to grant a planning reservation for the development of the Westend station area. The reservation is intended for Urbanizator Oy, JM Suomi Oy, and JATS Property Development Oy, covering approximately 4.1 hectares owned by the City of Espoo. The area, currently underutilized due to decreased bus traffic since the metro's opening, is envisioned to become a vibrant urban environment integrating housing, services, workplaces, and public transport. The proposal includes enhancing the connection to Tapiola and requires an amendment to the local detailed plan. This vision outlines potential development from the 2020s to the 2060s.
